Beast Fest Fun Run is Oct. 31

BLADENBORO — The Bladenboro Beast Fest 5K Fun Run will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, starting at the Bladenboro Town Hall.

All ages are welcome to come out run, walk or bring your stroller. Cost is $20 per individual and $15 per child. Children must be 12 and under.

Entry forms are availabe at wwww.borobooster.org, the Bladenboro Fitness Center, Healthworks in Elizabethtown, the Bladenboro Town Hall and Bladen Community College.

Bladen county dove field closed

ELIZABETHTOWN – The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has closed a dove field on the Bladen Lake State Forest Game Land to hunting until further notice.

The Commission closed the field due to someone baiting the field prior to the dove season opening, which is illegal. The closed dove field is located off Sweet Home Church Road. From Hwy. 242, turn onto Sweet Home Church Road and go approximately 1.2 miles. Turn left on Bladen Lakes State Forest and drive .25 mile. Turn left and go another .25 mile to the dove field location. GPS coordinates are N 34.69902, W 78.57829. The game land is located in Bladen County in Elizabethtown.

Anyone who has any knowledge about the illegal baiting is asked to contact the Commission’s Enforcement Division at 800-662-7137. Callers can remain anonymous.

Vineyard Golf plans anniversary tourney

WHITE LAKE — Vineyard Golf at White Lake will host a one-year anniversary golf tournament on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The four-person Captain’s Choice Tournament will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The cost per team is $250 and include a meal after the tournament. Hole-in-one prizes include a new car and $10,000 cash. There will also be a $5,000 putting contest. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

The rain date is Sunday, Oct, 4.

Proceeds of the tournament will benefit Southeastern Carolina Crossroads.
