— At Clinton on Tuesday, the Lady Eagles got whitewashed 9-0 in a Four County Conference match that was played with pro sets because of possible bad weather.
Kathryn Cole gave her opponent all she could handle at No. 1 singles, but fell by an 8-5 score. The lady Dark Horses lost only three games through the rest of the singles matches.
In doubles, Cole and Cassie Hill battled at No. 1 before taking an 8-5 loss. Clinton took the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, 8-2 and 8-1, respectively.
The loss drops East Bladen to 0-2.
— In Teachey on Tuesday, the Lady Knights’ five-match winning streak was snapped by Wallace-Rose Hill in straight sets by the scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-23.
The Four County Conference loss drops West Bladen to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
“The girls are looking better,” said West Bladen coach Gaye Davis. “They need to have more self-confidence in themselves because they have the skills to be a great team.”
Lorna Smith led the Lady Knights with 10 service winners with two aces. Morgan Schumacher added seven service points along with five kills and three blocks, while Kathryn Schultz had two kills and Kassidy Anderson contributed two aces.
— In Lake Waccamaw on Tuesday, the Eagles dropped a non-conference match with East Columbus, 4-2.
The loss drops East Bladen to 2-3 overall.
