Lady Knights win third straight; East falls

Kenny Armstrong|Bladen Journal West Bladen’s Kassidy Anderson recorded 24 service winners that included seven aces on Monday as the Lady Knights swept visiting St. Pauls.


DUBLIN — The Lady Knights earned their third straight win on Monday with a sweep of St. Pauls by the scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-19.

“The girls are all looking so much better and are really progressing as a team,” said West Bladen coach Gaye Davis.

Kassidy Anderson led the Lady Knights with 24 service winners that included seven aces. She also contributed a pair of aces and five digs.

Logan Autry added 10 service points for West Bladen, including and ace, and also had seven kills. Morgan Schumacher had a pair of kills and two blocks, while Lorna Smith had four kills. Kaylee Stevens, Laikyn Pait and Kathryn Schultz each had two kills.

— The Lady Eagles battled tooth and nail against visiting Whiteville on Monday, but fell in the non-conference match by the scores of 25-22, 25-22, 20-25 and 25-13.

East Bladen got 18 assists, 15 service winners and three aces from Miller Heustess, while Lexie mendell added seven kills and four aces.

Claire Campbell fired in a trio of aces and three kills, and Anna Grace Long also had three 3 aces for the Lady Eagles. Lacey Suggs contributed six kills and Abby Ward added two aces, while Hannah DeVane had four kills.
