ELIZABETHTOWN — The Eagles ran like the wind Friday night, stealing seven bases, and raced past visiting Wallace-Rose Hill, 11-1, in a Four County Conference game.

The win improved East Bladen to 12-5 overall, 10-2in the conference.

The Eagles plated three runs in the first inning off three walks, two singles and two wild pitches. Quinton Bedsole had two RBI in the frame.

In the second, East Bladen added four runs when two walks and a wild pitch put the runners in scoring position for Sincere Smith’s sacrifice fly, then Kyle Tatum blasted an RBI double. Josh McKoy reached on an infield hit and an error brought a run home on the play.Another Bulldogs error sent the fourth run home to give the Eagles a 7-0 edge.

After a scoreless third, Smith opened the fourth for East Bladen with a triple.Tatum was hit by a pitch and Xavier Wooten hit a sacrifice fly to score Smith. Josh McKoy singled and was picked off first, but pinch-runner Dan Tatum stole home on the play for a 9-0 lead.

Wallace-Rose Hill nicked the Eagles for a run in the top of the sixth, but East Bladen finished with two runs in the home half to enact the mercy rule. Smith and Kyle Tatum were each hit by a pitch and, moments later, Smith stole home for a run … followed by a wild pitch and error that brought home the final run.

Wooten earned the win on the hill with a complete-game, five-hitter. He hit three batters but struck out eight.

Kyle Tatum was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and RBI; McKoy was 2-for-2; Smith had a triple and RBI; Bedsole had two RBI.
