DUNN — A five-run inning broke open a scoreless game and helped propel West Bladen to a 12-2 mercy-rule win over Midway on Tuesday.

The Lady Knights are now 9-1 overall and 5-0 in he conference.

West Bladen opened the scoring with those five runs in the third inning when Jenna Dove walked, Kyla Reed smoked an RBI double, Kassidy Anderson reached on a botched fielder’s choice, Logan Autry laced an RBI single, Laikyn Pait worked a walk, Carley Dawson grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored a run and Sophia Singletary lined a two-run single.

The Lady Raiders responded with two runs in the bottom of the third, but West Bladen scored three times in the fourth behind a bases-loaded fielder’s choice by Autry and a two-run triple by Alanna Ludlum for an 8-2 lead.

In the fifth, the Lady Knights scored four runs when Anderson smoked a bases-loaded single for a run, Autrey had another fielder’s choice RBI, and walks to Pait and Carley Dawson forced two runs home for a 12-2 margin and sealed the win.

From the circle, Singletary earned the win with a five-hitter. She didn’t walk a batter and struck out three.

At the plate, Reed was 2-for-2 with and RBI; Dove was 2-for-2; Anderson was 2-for-4 with an RBI; Ludlum had the triple and two RBI; Autry had three RBI; Carley Dawson had two RBI; and Singletary had two RBI.
