ELIZABETHTOWN — East Bladen got a two-hitter from Sincere Smith on the hill and a perfect night at the plate from Ty Watkins to knock off visiting Union, 11-1, and win its fifth straight to settle into a first-place tie with Midway and West Bladen in the Four County Conference.

The Eagles, now 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference, fell behind in the top of the first when the Spartans plated their only run of the game — coming on a wild pitch.

But East Bladen knotted the game in the home half when Watkins laced a two-out RBI single.

In the third, the Eagles broke the game open with six runs. Kyle Tatum blasted a two-run double, and error scored another run, Watkins had another RBI single, Brooks McGill smacked an RBI double and Greyson Heustess laced an RBI single in the inning for a 7-1 lead.

After a scoreless fourth and fifth, East Bladen sealed the game with four runs in the sixth. Shy Pone lofted an RBI sacrifice fly, Tatum had an RBI single, Watkins had a run-scoring single and McGill had an RBI sacrifice fly that ended the game on the mercy rule.

Watkins finished 4-for-4 with three RBI; Smith was 3-for-4 with an RBI; Tatum was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI; McGill had the double and two RBI.
