BURGAW – East Bladen scored on a penalty kick and nipped Pender County on Friday, 1-0.
The win improves the Lady Eagles to 5-1 overall, 1-1 in the conference.
Midway through the first half, Patience Ward got yanked down inside the netminder’s box and East Bladen was awarded a penalty kick. Hannah Devane stepped in and rocketed home the goal fora 1-0 Lady Eagles edge.
East Bladen’s defense took over from there and kept the Lady Patriots at bay. The Lady Eagles outshot Pender County by a 23-1 margin.
East Bladen will play host to Heide Trask on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Lady Knights fall

In Rocky Point on Friday, the Lady Knights couldn’t generate any offense and fell 2-0 to Heidi Trask in a Four County Conference match.
West Bladen falls to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
The Lady Knights was scheduled to host South Columbus on Monday in a non-conference match at 6 p.m., then travel to Burgaw to face Pender County in a conference match Tuesday at 5 p.m.
