DUNN –Miday outscored visiting West Bladen 33-13 over the middle quarters, propelling the Lady Raiders to a 56-35 Four County Conference win on Friday.

With the loss, the Lady Knights fell to 8-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference, while Midway improved to 11-3, 3-3.

The two teams went back and forth in the opening quarter, with West Bladen getting a three-pointer from Logan Autry along with a trio of free throws from Laikyn Pait. When the period closed, the Lady Knights and Midway were knotted at 13-13.

But things slid from there for West Bladen.

The Lady Raiders exploded for an 18-5 run through the second stanza and went into the intermission with a 31-18 advantage. The Lady Knights could manage just five free throws in the period, four from Pait

That momentum continued for the home team when the second half opened, as did the offensive inefficiency for the visitors.

Midway used a 15-5 spurt through the third quarter and built a 43-26 lead going into the final 8 minutes of play.

The two teams all but traded points through the fourth quarter, with Midway earning a 10-9 advantage and sealing the 21-point win.

Pait scored 13 points to lead West Bladen, while Autry contributed nine points for the Lady Knights.

After a non-conference game at Fairmont on Monday, West Bladen will get back to conference action Friday when the go on the road to face Union.
