No arrest yet in fatal shooting

BLADENBORO —A fatal shooting outside the Ash Street apartments in Bladenboro early Monday morning remains under investigation by the Bladenboro Police Department.According to Chief Chris Hunt, the shooting took place at about 2:30 a.m. and, when officers arrived, the victim — identified as Patricia Scott Cooper, 38 — had suffered a single gunshot to the back but was still alive.Cooper was transported to Bladen County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at about 3:31 a.m., according to Assistant County Coroner Kenneth Clark.Hunt, who said he didn’t want to divulge too many details of the incident while the investigation is ongoing, did say the incident began as a domestic dispute.

Bladen sees dip in unemployment

RALEIGH — The state has released its unemployment figures for the month of February and Bladen County’s rate dipped by 0.5 percent to 10 percent, ranking it 93rd in overall unemployment data. B’boro board requests speed limit change

BLADENBORO — The Bladenboro Town Board approved a resolution this week asking that the N.C. Department of Transportation to change the speed limit on N.C.
