RIEGELWOOD - William Doyle "Pete" Smith, 65, of 23521 NC Highway 87 East, died Saturday, January 25, at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville.
Mr. Smith, a devoted father and grandfather, was owner and operator of Pete Smith Farms and Construction Company in Riegelwood. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Prestwood Smith.
The funeral service will be conducted today (Tuesday) at 11 a. m. at Riegelwood Baptist Church with the Reverends Charles Hester and Larry Knowles officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Jamie Smith and her husband, Jack, of Riegelwood; a son, Michael Smith and his wife, Marsha, of Riegelwood; a brother, John Smith of Riegelwood; three sisters, Sue Lewis of Leland, and Ginger Duncan and Nettie Sellers, both of Riegelwood; and six grandchildren, Lindsey Smith, Sterlin Smith, Michaela Smith, Jessica Murray, Tony Smith and Amy Smith, all of Riegelwood.
Memorials are suggested to Riegelwood Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Building Fund, 101 E. Corwallis Street, Riegelwood, N. C. 28456.
Visitation was held Monday from 7 till 9 p. m. at Kinlaw Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
