RIEGELWOOD — A Bladen County man was arrested on multiple drug charges after a routine traffic check on Wednesday.
Capt. Rodney Hester of the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office said that sheriff’s deputies and troopers with the N.C. Highway Patrol were conducting the traffic check at about 11 p.m. on N.C. 211 near Elkton Road when a silver Buick Century approached.
“… marijuana could be smelled coming from the vehicle,” Hester said. “A glass jar containing what appeared to be marijuana was in plain view in the rear passenger seat …”
The occupant in the back of the vehicle exited the car and told law enforcement officers that he had three clear plastic bags of marijuana, eight oxycodone pills and a digital scale. In addition, Hester said that Harley had an order for his arrest for failing to appear in court.
Arrested was Johnny Frank Harley, 29, of Riegelwood. He was charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Harley remains in the Bladen County Jail under a $110,000 secured bond.
