DUBLIN — The inaugural Woodmen of the World Christmas Tournament, which tips off Friday afternoon at West Bladen High, will feature a loaded field on both the boys and girls side.

“The field is second to none, with several intriguing matchups,” said West Bladen boys coach Travis Pait. “The girls tournament is going to be unreal (and) on the boys side it will be a battle of big schools versus small schools.”

The girls will begin the action at 2 p.m. when Lumberton takes on Whiteville. The Lady Pirates of Lumberton, 6-3, recently won the Robeson County Shootout, and the Lady Wolfpack of Whiteville are 6-5 and considered one of the favorites in the Waccamaw Conference.

At 4 p.m., the host Lady Knights of West Bladen, which comes in with a 7-2 overall mark and finished second in the Robeson County Shootout, will take on the Lady Dark Horses of Clinton, who are 8-1 on the season.

The girls third-place game will be Saturday at 2 p.m., while the championship will be at 4 p.m.

On the boys side, New Bern High will face Whiteville High at 6 p.m. The Bears of New Bern are 3-6 so far this season, while the Wolfpack of Whiteville, one of the front-runners in the Waccamaw Conference, are 9-1 thus far.

At 8 p.m., the host Knights of West Bladen, 5-4, will take on the Pirates of Lumberton, 3-6. The Knights defeated Lumberton on Dec. 15 in the championship game of the Robeson County Shootout, 68-55.

The boys third-place game will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, while the championship game will wrap up the tournament with an 8 p.m. start.

Tickets for the tournament are $5 per day, but no passes out will be given. Concessions will be available.
