DARE program graduations set for next week

Bladen County Schools and the Sheriff's Department will hold graduation for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) classes next week.

ˇ Tar Heel Middle School will hold graduation Tuesday at 9 a.m. Sharon Burden of the Smithfield Special Police will be the guest speaker.

ˇ Elizabethtown Middle School will hold its ceremony at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with Dr. Kenneth Dinkins, Superintendent of Bladen County Schools, as guest speaker.

ˇ On Wednesday, Sgt. Ray Root of the Bladen County Sheriff's Department will speak to DARE graduates at Booker T. Washington School in Clarkton at 1 p.m.

ˇ Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Bridgers will speak to DARE grads at East Arcadia at 1:30 p.m.

ˇ On Thursday, Bladenboro Chief Ronnie Rising will speak to DARE graduates at Bladenboro Middle School at 1 p.m.

The DARE program teaches school children about the dangers of drugs and helps children have a positive image of law enforcement officers.

Parents are also invited to attend the ceremonies.
