Bladen Community College held its 6th Annual Graduation ceremony on Thursday, September 15. A total of 132 graduated from the programs of the Basic Skills Department this year.

Three of the graduating students received $500 scholarships from the Bladen Community College Foundation to continue their studies at BCC.

Three other awards were handed out at the ceremony. Charlie McAllister received the Perseverance Award; Angela Clanton, the Academic Achievement for GED; and Trevor Bryan, the Academic Achievement for Adult High School.

Naomi Miller, director of the BCC East Arcadia campus, "moved the graduates and audience with a resounding address." She encouraged the graduates to press on to meet their goals by relaying the adversities she had overcome. Newly appointed Trustee Chairperson Pat Smith gave the charge to graduates.
