It’s almost time to time to dust off the clubs and play for one of the county’s top prizes.

The Robeson County Golf Championships sponsored by Dial Insurance are less than two weeks away and will be held July 18, 19 and 20 at Pinecrest Country Club and this year’s tournament will include a new division.

Players 65 and older will comprise the oft-requested super senior division, which will play from the gold tees alongside the juniors on Friday and Saturday. The senior division will be for players 55 and older and be played on Saturday and Sunday, as will the ladies and regular division. Each division will be flighted after the first day.

The championship division will play all three days and will be flighted after the second day. The championship is open to all amateurs over the age of 16. There is a $90 registration fee for the championship division and junior entry is $25. All other divisions have a $60 registration fee. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each flight and fees include food and beverages on the course.

Registration information is available now at local courses.

Cliffwood’s weekly senior shootout is now being played at 9:30 a.m. each Wednesday. There is a $20 entry fee, which includes door prizes, a continental breakfast and lunch, and any tournament with 35 or more players will have a guaranteed first place prize of $50.

The Foundation of Robeson County Community College will be holding its 30th annual Clifford Bullard Memorial Golf Tournament on Sept. 18 at Cliffwood Golf Course.

The tournament supports the world of the RCC Foundation in its mission to provide financial support for the school’s students, activities and programs, especially as the need for scholarship assistance rises. The tournament raised more than $22,000 and the foundation expects a record-breaking event. Registration information will be announced at a later time.
