SPOKANE. Wash. — East Bladen High grad Saquan Johnson belted his first home run of the season on Thursday to continue a hot hitting streak that saw him go 4-for-12 over a three-game stretch.


On Sunday, June 22, Johnson went 2-for-5 for the Spokae Indians, the Class A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. He followed the up Wednesday with a 1-for-3 that included a double, RBI and run scored.


On Thursday, he went 1-for-4 with the solo home run. But on Friday, Johnson went hitless in four at-bats, and then sat out the two weekend games.


The streak snapped a stretch of four straight hitless games, where he went 0-for-12 with seven Ks.


Strikeouts are still plaguing Johnson. In 33 at-bats this season for the Indians, Johnson has fanned 15 times.


For the season, Johnson is hitting .171 for Spokane, which is off to its hottest start in 103 years at 11-3.
