DUBLIN — Last week was a huge one for the Knights of West Bladen. In one night, the Knights won their first homecoming game in a number of years, became playoff eligible for the first time in several years, set a school record for points in a game and gave them more wins in a season than they’ve had since 2008 when they finished 6-5 — all during a 57-26 win over Heidi Trask.
West Bladen, now 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the Four County Conference, will have to guard against any kind of letdown as they take on a winless Pender County team on Friday.
The Patriots, who are 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference, come into the game licking their wounds from a 46-6 pasting put on them by East Bladen last week.
Pender County’s offense, which operates out of the Double-Wing and read option, is averaging only nine points per game. The defense, which lines up in a 40 front with variations, is giving up a whopping 47.8 points per matchup.
