ELIZABETHTOWN — The Eagles of East Bladen High outshot the visiting Gators of East Columbus by a 12-4 margin on Monday en route to a 3-1 non-conference win, then rallied to hand St. Pauls High a 3-1 loss on Tuesday in another non-conference win on the pitch.


Hastin McGill booted home a pair of goals and Ryan Baxley added another goal to pace the Eagles on Monday.


Baxley’s goal came about 15 minutes into the match to give East Bladen a 1-0 lead, and McGill tacked on a goal about 11 minutes later to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead at halftime.


The Gators averted the whitewash with a goal early in the second half, cutting the deficit to 2-1, but East Bladen got the goal back when McGill tallied his second goal of the match with just under 20 minutes left to play.


On Tuesday, the homestanding Bulldogs of St. Pauls took an early 1-0 lead, but Baxley knotted the game a few minutes later on a penalty kick.


With just over 16 minutes left in the first half, Daniel Elkins booted a loose ball from in close that found the back of the net to give East Bladen a 2-1 edge.


Then, as the first half began to wind down, Cameron West took a pass from Baxley and booted home a winner to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead that held up through a scoreless second half.

— In Dublin on Monday, St. Pauls scored three times in the second half to rally past West Bladen for a 3-1 non-conference win.


Owen Peavy put the Knights on the board as the first half was winding down when his long shot caromed off a Bulldogs defender and found the back of the net.


But the lead didn’t hold up, as St. Pauls tallied three goals to claim the win.


— In Cerro Gordo on Wednesday, the Knights snapped a 16-match losing streak by handing West Columbus a 6-0 whitewashing.


Clay Allen and Edwin Labra each tallied a pair of goals for West Bladen, while the duo of Bryan labra and Michael Pastore each scored a goal.


The Knights held West Columbus shotless in the first half and outshot the Vikings by a 17-4 margin in the match.

— In Tabor City on Monday, the Lady Knights of West Bladen took two of the first three games but faltered down the stretch and lost a 3-2 verdict to South Columbus in a non-conference match.


After dropping a tough 25-23 first game, West Bladen took the next two by scores of 25-16 and 25-23. But the Stallions rallied to win the final two games, 25-19 and 15-8.


Mallory Davis had a huge match for the Lady Knights with 25 service points, nine aces, seven kills and five blocks. Teammate Courtney Thompson added 18 service points, eight blocks, seven kills and six aces. Taylor Stephens contributed 13 service points, Codi Pait had 12 service points and Breanna Jackson had 10 service points.


— In Elizabethtown on Tuesday, Miller Heustess had 15 service points and Abbey Norris tallied 14 kills to lead the Lady Eagles past Whiteville in straight sets 25-23, 25-21 and 25-20.


East Bladen never trailed in the first two games, but had to rally from a 4-0 deficit in the third game to seal the win.


Lacey Suggs contributed 10 service points, five kills and a pair of blocks for East Bladen.


— In Dublin on Tuesday, the Lady Knights dropped a back and forth non-conference match with Fairmont by the scores of 12-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-19 and 15-8.


Mallory Davis led West Bladen with 17 service points, six aces, six blocks and six digs. Morgan Sweeney added 17 services points and two aces.

— In Dublin on Monday, West Bladen outslugged Class 4-A Purnell Swett for a 7-2 non-conference win.


In singles action, Alicia Avellaneda took a hard-fought 9-7 win at No. 2, while Madison Staton earned an 8-2 win at No. 3, Tatianna Sturgis got an 8-6 win at No. 4, Alanna Ludlum got an 8-2 win at No. 5 and Amber Long took an 8-3 win at No. 6.


In doubles action, Staton and Alanna Ludlum teamed up for an 8-0 whitewashing at No. 2; Sturgis and Long earned an 8-6 win at No. 3.


— In Dublin on Tuesday, the Lady Knights earned a split of two matches against Fairmont, one of which was the completion of an Aug. 20 rainout.


Fairmont took the first match 5-4, while West Bladen won the second match by the same score.


In the suspended match, Josie Ludlum took a tough 9-8 win at No. 1 singles, Alicia Avellaneda took an 8-5 win at No. 2 and Alanna Ludlum took an 8-1 win at No. 5. Josie Ludlum and Avellaneda then teamed for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.


In the regularly-scheduled match, West Bladen got singles wins from Josie Ludlum at No. 1 (8-0), Avellaneda at No. 2 (9-8) and Alanna Ludlum at No. 5 (8-3). Doubles wins came from Ludlum and Avellaneda at No. 1 (8-4) and the team of Alanna Ludlum and Madison Staton at No. 2 (8-6)
