— Feb. 14, 1968: A cypress tree measuring 25 feet, 4 inches in circumference and located off U.S. 701 South between Clarkton and Whiteville is selected to be used to build a three-bedroom home in Clarkton.
— Feb. 14, 1979: A jury in a Bladen County Coronor’s Inquest find no one responsible for the hanging death of a 31-year-old Bladenboro man who was a prisoner in the Bladen County Jail.
— Feb. 15, 1988: Kinlaw Furniture, a family owned business in downtown Elizabethtown, celebrates 50 years in the community. The store was started in 1938 by the late J. Elmer Kinlaw.
— Feb. 13, 2004: Curtis L. Brown Jr. Field in Elizabethtown gets approval from the Elizabethtown Airport/Economic Development Commission to construct two 3,600-square-foot hangars.
— Feb. 13, 2009: David Earl Parnell is sentenced to 92 months in prison after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the Feb. 15, 2008, shooting death of Michael Eugene Lanier.
