— Dec. 20, 1967: Staff Sgt. Arthur G. Babson Jr,. the son of Inez Ransom of Clarkton, receives the Pacific Air Force Supply Airman Achievement Award at Bingh Thuy Air Base in Vietnam. Babson is a supply inventory specialist.
— Dec. 21, 1978: Bladen County Schools is one of 54 districts in the state to be accredited at Level III by the State Board of Education.
— Dec. 21, 1987: The Elizabethtown Town Board offers the Bladen County Board of Education $150,000 for the old Elizabethtown Junior High School campus on Broad Street, which includes 3.7 acres of land. The offer was later accepted.
— Dec. 19, 2003: The Bladen County Board of Education begins a search for a new superintendent after the resignation of Byron Lawson.
— Dec. 19, 2008: The West Bladen Knights’ varsity boys basketball team has its 25-game winning streak snapped with a 50-45 loss to South Columbus High.
