— Sept. 20, 1967: Construction begins on the new pump house4 and water tank in Clarkton near the back of the Clarkton Mills plant.


— Sept. 21, 1978: Toni Tatum, 6, is selected to compete in the North Carolina Little Miss Contest in Charlotte. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Tatum of Elizabethtown.


— Sept. 21,l 1987: Lt. Gov. Bob Jordan visits Bladen County and speak withs students as part of an observance of the signing of the U.S. Constitution 200 years ago.


— Sept. 20, 2003: Bladen County is put under a state of emergency as Hurricane Isabel comes ashore near Atlantic Beach.


— Sept. 19, 2008: The Bladen County Public Library in Elizabethtown receives a $2,500 grant to help pay for an exhibit titled “Pride and Passion: The African-American baseball Experience.”
