Bladen Lakes Primary to host Mac Book training

ELIZABETHTOWN — Bladen Lakes Primary School will be offering to school professionals and to the general public a one-day Macbook (Pro/Air/iMac) training to be held on Friday, Feb. 14, from 9 a.m. until 2 .pm.


The training will be held in the Bladen Lakes Primary School media center.


The registration fee is $25 and includes lunch. The school can accommodate up to 20 participants, and seats will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis as registration fees are received.


Participants should bring their own Macintosh laptops (Pro/Air/iMac) that have been upgraded to the newest operating system (Mavericks). Interested individuals should email Reida Roberts, the school’s principal, at rsroberts@bladen.k12.nc.us or call the school at 910-588-4606 to make a reservation or to get more information.


Beginners and experts alike will benefit from the training. The fast-paced sessions will cover Mac basics and simple machine maintenance as well as keyboard short cuts, diction to speech options, ibook, icloud, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, GarageBand, imovie, and other cool tips.


The presenter is Jeffrey William Smith Jr., a high school student at Appoqunimink High School in Middletown, De. Smith has managed the technology in more than 50 productions at the Everett Theater, Premiere Centre for the Arts, Appoqunimink High School, Alfred G. Waters Middle School, and Delaware Schwartz Center. He has served as café manager and tech manager at Premier Centre for the Arts. He was president of Business Professionals of America - Alfred G. Waters Chapter.


Recently, Smith started a Chinese club at his school.
