ELIZABETHTOWN — Retired School Personnel of Bladen County welcomed Jimmie Smith, who auctioneered for the scholarship fund at their meeting on Jan. 9 in the fellowship hall of the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church.

The auction was very successful. Following a motion by Mickie Davis and seconded by Shirley Clar, the scholarship will be awarded to a student at Bladen Community College.

President Katherine Inscoe Taylor welcomed all members to the meeting and Rufus Lloyd had the invocation. Trish Inscoe served coffee and donuts all during the meeting.

Legislative Committee Chairman Lloyd, and Robah Britt of the School Supplies Committee made reports. The Nominating Committee will report at the March meeting.

Attendance was good despite the cold weather. Taylor thanked Lloyd for all he does for the Bladen County unit. She also thanked Almira Johnson for her attendance at the meeting following recent medical treatment. The meeting was adjourned.
