DUBLIN — Have you ever felt like taking all of your frustration out with a simple stomp of your foot? Well, you can do that Saturday and no one will be the wiser when you come out to Lu Mil Vineyard for the seventh annual N.C. Grape Festival.
The activities are set to take place at Lu Mil Vineyard in Dublin from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Bladen County’s own gospel and country music singer Jimmy Gatlin will be performing live on the stage.
“He’s always a favorite of folks,” said Ron Taylor, owner of Lu Mil Vineyard.
There will also be a community wide yard sale, which features everything from yard-sale items to overstocked merchandise offered by local merchants, said Taylor. The community yard sale will be held on the grounds of the vineyard. Businesses are encouraged to bring their overstock or clearance items and members of the community are also welcome to bring their items as well. Set-up for the yard sale begins at 6 a.m. Saturday.
“Yard sale spaces are free for anyone who wants to set up,” he added.
The grape stomp competition is on tap for early afternoon Saturday.
“The main event is the grape stomp,” said Taylor.
For those who hope to pick some grapes, Taylor said the u-pick grapes are just about gone.
Something new this year wil be a visit by the Air Stream Camper Club.
“There will be maybe 20 or 30 campers coming on that day,” said Taylor. He said they would be on hand for the festivities as well.
There will also be tours of the vineyard given on the double-decker bus. There will also be pedal carts and a pedal party, which will ride around the vineyard.
There will also be chances to taste many of the jams and jellies, as well as the wine, said Taylor.
Also the antique museum will be open for the public. The museum has grown to include several rooms and an antique general store.
Taylor expects the day to be packed with fun and enjoyment for everyone. There is also fishing available in the two lakes.
The day will culminate with a the Ultimate Series Stock Car Race at the Dublin Motor Speedway.
“It will be a good day of family fun and entertainment,” said Taylor.
The early weather forecast calls for a 30-percent chance of rain on Saturday, with daytime temperatures around 70.
