WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Mike McIntyre announced today that the town of Bladenboro has received $907,500 in federal funds to build a new fire station.

“Helping our rural communities have the infrastructure they need to protect citizens and businesses is a top priority,” McIntyre said. “These federal funds will be a big boost to the town of Bladenboro and their fire department. Congratulations to all who have worked to make this dream a reality. These are your taxpaying dollars coming home to make a difference.”

The U.S. Congress has appropriated funds to the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development who has obligated the funds to the Town of Bladenboro. This low-interest loan will be used to construct a new fire station to replace an aged and undersized facility. The new 9,920-square-foot facility will provide adequate storage bays for emergency response equipment, offices, training facilities, and a communication room.

This Bladenboro department serves a rural population of 1,750 people,

Congressman McIntyre is a senior member of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee.
