ATLANTA- Ga. — At the annual meeting of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges held on Dec. 10, in Atlanta, officials of the Association announced that the accreditation for Bladen Community College had been reaffirmed.
The announcement culminated a long reaffirmation process that included numerous steps and a visit to the college by an on-site review team in October 2012. The team visit is normally the last step in the review process.
Commenting on the accomplishment, BCC President William Findt said, “The College has reached an important milestone with reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The reaffirmation is a peer review of the college’s programs and is the culmination of better than two years of work by the college’s faculty and staff.
“All aspects of the college have been reviewed—finances, facilities, programs, and faculty and staff—and found to be acceptable to the 100 standards that all colleges and universities accredited by SACSCOC must meet to be included in membership by the Association,” Findt explained. “During the review period the college’s processes and procedures were found to be appropriate to meet the needs of the community.”
Findt lauded the work of the faculty and staff for the successful accreditation.
BCC began preparation for the reaffirmation process nearly three years ago by forming a team to address the various phases of the process and ensure that the college is operating as required by federal and state regulations as well as its own policies and procedures.
