The Science Olympiad Club at Bladen Lakes Primary School recently held a bridge-building contest. Teams used pasta and glue to construct bridges and to test the strength of different designs. Students quickly learned which bridge structures hold the most weight and provide the most support. The Science Olympiad Club is new to the school this year, and is part of the school’s effort to provide enhanced instruction to ambitious third- and fourth-grade students. The club meets on Friday afternoons during the school day; its coaches are Nicole Allen and Susan Dowless.
