Maria Hood Maynard and Colin Dailey McSwain, both of Whiteville, were united in marriage on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at 6 p.m. in Lucille’s Garden at Lu Mil Vineyard in Dublin. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dewey H. Ball of Beulahville.
The bride is the daughter of Susan Hood of St. Pauls and Danny Hood of Clarkton. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. Mrs. Herring Angus McDonald of Lisbon and the late Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Hood of Clarkton.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Freddy McSwain of Elizabethtown. He is the grandson of Helen McSwain and the late Fulton McSwain of White Lake and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dailey of White Oak.
The bride was escorted by her brother, Faison Hood, of Clarkton. The instrumental music for the recessional and processional was especially written and recorded for the ceremony by the groom and his friend, Kendal Kinlaw. the maid of Honor was Tiffany Bordeaux of Roseboro, friend of the bride.
The best man was the groom’s brother, Frederick McSwain of Manhattan, New York, Caden Branch of Lumberton, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of Bladenboro High School. She graduated from Southeasten Community College in 2004 with an associate degree in nursing and also from Jacksonville University in 2009 with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is employed as a nurse with Bladen County Schools.
The groom is a 2001 graduate of East Bladen High School. He is a solid service fabricator at Carolina Surfaces in Elizabethtown.
Following the garden ceremony, guests were invited to a dinner buffet at Creekside.
For their wedding trip, the couple enjoyed a cruise through the Caribbean.
