We wanted to be sure and take the time to send out most sincere congratulations to the town of Elizabethtown for the wonderful weekend of events recently.
We traveled from Richmond, Va., to Elizabethtown for the Battle of Elizabethtown re-enactment, and thoroughly enjoyed everything we saw. We are surprised this was only the third year, since it all seemed so organized and there was so much to see.
Since we live in Richmond, Va., we are quite used to Civil War re-enactments, and we would rank yours right up there with some of the better re-enactments.
We were a little disappointed that the activities at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market that Saturday were not also held on Sunday, and we realized that a little too late after finding it difficult to get from the park to the Farmer’s Market in one afternoon. But we’ll know next year.
We will also plan to spend an extra day or two next year, if the town again offers the Thursday night concert at the Farmer’s Market. A good friend of ours in Lumberton told us about the re-enactment plans and we looked it up on the newspaper’s website, but we were unaware the concert was basically about the same time.
Again, our kudos on a fabulous weekend, and we look forward to seeing it again next year.
