A patriotic and strong thank-you to all who participated in the Battle of Elizabethtown weekend.

From the Friday night dance and music concert by High Tower Band to the height of the battle to the last load of equipment and trash that was hauled out of Tory Hole Battlefield Park on Monday morning, it was a total success. Best estimates of all participation is 1,200 people and the media was great in publishing articles and announcements to get people involved.

Harmony Hall Plantation Village Backwoods Militia worked long and hard to bring the battle together, as well as the entire weekend. The town of Elizabethtown, Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Bladen County Historical Society, Four County Electric Membership Corporation, Harmony Hall Plantation Village and Harmony Hall Plantation Village Backwoods Militia and many-a-volunteer worked together endlessly to bring about the third re-enactment the battle fought so long ago right here in Bladen County.

Plans are well under way for next year.

Thank you to Mayor Sylvia Campbell, Sunday Allen, Ethan DeBarge, Tony Parnell, Seth Lewis and everyone else.

Harmony Hall Plantation Village is open this Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. for drill, with worship at 3 p.m., iron pot cooking and the works. Call me for more information at 910-874-4011. Admission is free and donations are always welcome.
