ELIZABETHTOWN — In a brief, special-called meeting, the Bladen County Board of Commissioners voted to approve an application for funding from the North Carolina Coastal Recreational Fishing License Fund for engineering, design and environmental permits for the construction of a proposed rock arch ramp fish way on the Cape Fear River at the William O. Huske Lock and Dam No. 2.

Though a quorum was present, absent from the meeting were Bladen County Commissioners Chairman Jimmie Smith and Commissioners Delilah Blanks and Russell Priest.

Bladen County Manager Greg Martin said the ramp will allow fish to move upriver for spawning purposes. The vote was unanimous.
