AMMON — The folks of Ammon are getting geared up for summer with the 19th annual Ammon Blueberry Festival.
The annual event is sponsored by the Ammon Ruritan Club and the Ammon Volunteer Fire Department and scheduled for this Saturday (June 7). There is no admission fee.
The day will begin with eh ever popular pancake breakfast which is held at the Ammon Fire Department from 6:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Freshly made blueberry pancakes will be the menu staple complete with all the trimmings.
Once folks have had their fill of pancakes, they can kick back, grab a lawn chair and enjoy the parade that begins at 10 a.m.
New this year will be a Wildlife Expo held in the Ammon Community Building. Displays must be set up by 9 a.m. and may be picked up after 3 p.m.
The Shriners’ groups who will provide plenty of entertainment for those in attendance will include the Dunn Clowns — a favorite with many folks.
The parade will be immediately followed by the opening ceremony, which is held on the festival grounds located at the Ammon crossroads of N.C. 242 and Old Fayetteville Road. Throughout the day, there will be numerous food and craft vendors, a classic car cruise-in and classic car and truck show, a live auction, plenty of local blueberries for sale and more. There will be rides and games along with other activities for the children.
All proceeds from the festival go to support the Ammon Volunteer Fire Department.
