ELIZABETHTOWN — East Bladen and West Bladen clashed on Monday, meeting in the middle — at The Corner Cafe in downtown Elizabethtown — for the third annual Pancake-Eating Contest between the two varsity football teams.

The event is a prelim to Friday’s showdown on the gridiron between the two Four County Conference teams.

Going into Monday’s event, each team had come away with a win during the first two years — West Bladen won the inaugural contest in 2011, and East Bladen knotted the series with a win in 2012.

This time around, the Knights took the individual and team win again, with Zac Munson eating five full pancakes in 3 minutes and the West Bladen team beating the Eagles overall by a 15-13 pancake score.

Competing for West Bladen was Munson, Ed Owens, Parker Allen and Chris Hunsinger.

For East Bladen, the competitors were Larrell Murchison, Alex Stephens, Fabian McKoy and Cain Graham.
