ELIZABETHTOWN — Word of a Bladen County teacher’s success in the classroom has reached all the way to Fayetteville.

Greg Holzhauer, a third-grade teacher at Bladen lakes Primary School, was recently named the Elementary Reading Teacher of the Week by WKML 95.7 radio staff.

“I’m very proud of my students,” Holzhauer said. “Seven of my 14 students have risen at least one full reading level in half a calendar year. This is the nicest group of students I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.”

WKML deejay Steve Richard visited the Bladen lakes classroom to congratulate Holzhauer — as well as to deliver a T-shirt to each student along with a Peace Lily and school supplies to the class.

“The entire school is very proud to have Mr. Holzhauer on the faculty,” said Reida Roberts, Bladen Lakes principal.

Holzhauer was nominated for the award by a parent of one of his students.
