DUBLIN — Frank Kabiri of Lumberton, who recently moved to North Carolina with his wife from California, may have summed up the 2013 Dublin Peanut Festival best when he said, “It’s the biggest little festival I’ve seen.”

Despite early clouds and humidity that wouldn’t quite on Saturday, Dublin became a throng of people well before the parade began at 10 a.m. and the crowd kept coming throughout the day.

“This one is the best,” said Joan Patrick of Tar Heel, who said she has attended all 21 festivals. “It’s bigger, nicer and the largest crowd, I think.”

After the parade kicked off the activities, visitors spent time milling around Dublin Elementary School for the classic car display, numerous arts and crafts vendors, food stands and plenty of musical entertainment.

For the children, there were bounce houses, several games and a number of rides.

“I look forward to the cornhole tournament,” said Ryan Taylor of Dublin as he practiced for the competition.

The festival raises money for local charities and also funds scholarships for local students.
