NEWPORT — A former Bladen County resident has been recognized by the Craven County Board of Education and Tucker Creek Middle School.

Stacey Walker Looney, a graduate of Bladenboro High School and North Carolina Central University, is a math teacher at Tucker Creek Middle. She was recently spotlighted for her implementation of technology-based lessons and tools in her teaching.

The Board of Education stated that Looney “keeps an open mind to new ideas … and maintains a very professional attitude during all circumstances.

“Mrs. Looney also implements high-quality PBLs in her classroom, even bringing in community members to create a very authentic learning environment.”

Looney lives in Newport with her husband David and their two sons, Isaiah and Jeremiah. She is also the daughter of Willie Wardell Walker Sr. and Emma Johnson Walker of Bladenboro.
