DUBLIN — The West Bladen High Chapter of FFA recently held two special events at the school.

On Thursday, May 19, the Chapter held its annual FFA Banquet to celebrate the achievements of the members for the 2015-2016 school year. All teams and individuals who competed against other chapters were recognized for an award that was given to them by the FFA Officer Team, which hosted the event in official Parliamentary Procedure.

The 2015-2016 Officer Team consisted of President Allison Morris, Vice-President Nikki Locklear, Sentinel Alex Clark, Reporter Claire Parish, Treasurer Brinkley Collier, and Secretary Amber Long.

Also recognized were the advisors — Dana Mills, Gary Collier, and Ronald Autry; honorary members and senior officers — Allison Morris, Nikki Locklear and Claire Parrish.

On Friday, May 20, the Chapter welcomed Sarah Draper, National FFA officer from the Western Region, and Jacob Fipps, NCFFA vice-president. They came during the school’s fourth period to talk to the agriculture classes, and the West Bladen FFA officers were also in attendance.

Draper talked mostly to the seniors about graduating and college. She said that “when you graduate high school, you move from the passenger seat to the driver’s seat.”

Draper also played a fun and entertaining game with them that involved all of the students. Before they left, Amber Long, Chapter president, and Breanna Carlton, Chapter treasurer, presented Draper and Fipps with a T-shirt, an Ag-Life decal, and presented Draper with a Lily & Laura bracelet.
