DUBLIN — Bladen Community College will welcome guest speaker Ericka Jones Whitaker to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Thursday, January 14, at 11 a.m. in the college auditorium.

Whitaker is the chief executive officer of Southeastern Community & Family Services in Lumberton, the largest community action agency in the state. The organization serves approximately 3,200 low income individuals and families annually, with a goal to establish self-sufficiency.

She is also the president and CEO of the Whitaker Management Group, a strategic management firm specializing in helping small organizations improve and build their internal and external infrastructures, while improving communications strategies between employees, board members, and stakeholders. She has an extensive background in nonprofit management bringing over 20 years of successful leadership and management experience to communities in North Carolina.

Whitaker serves as an Adjunct Management Lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She holds a master of science in administration degree with a focus in nonprofit management from Trinity University in Washington, D.C. and a bachelor of arts in Business Communications degree from the University of Maryland.,

She is currently a doctoral candidate with Fayetteville State University.
