ELIZABETHTOWN — A two-county spree of breaking into churches has lawmen looking for a Clarkton man and asking the public for its assistance.

“We have warrants for the arrest of Edward Jerome Leach, 20, of 1645 N.C. 211 Hwy. West, Apt. E,” Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker said. “Leach is wanted for breaking and entering the First Missionary Baptist Church in Bladenboro last month. He is also the suspect in several other church break in’s in both Bladen and Columbus counties. He is known to hang around Clarkton and Whiteville.”

McVicker asks if anyone has information on the whereabouts of this man they can contact the Sheriff’s Office in Bladen County (910-862-6960) or Columbus County (910-640-6629).

“Breaking into a church takes a different type of individual,” McVicker said. “This man needs to go to jail. I hope the public agrees and helps us locate him soon.”
