BLADENBORO — A Bladen County teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with a church break-in on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

According to Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker, deputies were called to Butters Baptist Church at about 3 p.m. that day to investigate a broken window.

“Responding deputies caught the suspect inside the building and were able to make the arrest,” said McVicker.

Arrested was Trisha Ann Sessoms, 19, of Bladenboro who was charged with two counts of injury to real property, misdemeanor breaking and entering, breaking and entering a place of worship, and possession of burglary tools.

She is currently in the Bladen County Jail under a $16,000 secured bond.

“Thanks to citizens who saw suspicious activity and called 911, we were able to actually apprehend Ms. Sessoms in the act,” said McVicker. “This is a great example of how much we depend on the eyes and ears of the community.”
