ELIZABETHTOWN — A downtown Elizabethtown icon will be making a comeback soon, and will kick off that effort with a plate and bake sale — but tghe date of that event has been put on hold because of permits.

The City Sandwich Shop, closed for more than a year after repeated attempts to revive the restaurant once operated by former Elizabethtown Police Chief Charles Taylor, has been remodeled and will host a spaghetti plate sale and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again 4 to 7 p.m. at its South Poplar Street location.

The spaghetti plates will cost $5 and include spaghetti, garlic sticks and salad.

The bake sale will include 8-inch round cakes, cupcakes and cookies.

The profits from the sales will help toward opening the restaurant, which is expected before the end of January. It is owned by James Leech of White Lake.
