SHALLOTTE — Attorney Michael R. Ramos of Shallotte was recently elected by his peers in the 13th Judicial District Bar to serve as the N.C. State Bar councilor for the 13th District beginning in January 2017. He will succeed Harold “Butch” Pop of Whiteville.
The 13th District serves Bladen, Columbus and Brunswick counties.
The N.C. State Bar is the agency charged with licensing, regulating and disciplining all North Carolina attorneys. The State Bar Council is the governing body of the State Bar and consists of 50 individual councilors, who oversee the licensing of attorneys, propose and draft rules regulating the profession and sit in judgment on allegations of attorney misconduct.
Ramos has practiced law in Brunswick and surrounding counties for 34 years and has been certified as a specialist in criminal law by the N.C. State Bar Board of Legal Specialization since 1997.
