WHITE LAKE — With a blazing sun overhead, folks were treated to Part B of the 2016 White Lake Water Festival on Sunday, when the events that were cancelled due to weather became their own new festival.
The popular classic car show and lawn mower tractor pull were the basis of Sunday FunDay, created by the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce to keep those events at White Lake.
“These are popular events and we just wanted to do something to make sure they stayed here,” said Dawn Maynard, executive director of the Chamber. “We only chose a Sunday because it was the first date available for the tractor-pullers.”
The tractor pull contest attracted a nice crowd despite the heat, and featured pulling from youngsters right through adults. The event was a fundraiser for the White lake Fire Department — and its members offered a variety of food and drinks.
Numerous classic cars and trucks filled part of the field on U.S. 701 South across from the Scotchman and attracted numerous visitors to see vehicles from days gone by.
Visitors also had the chance to peruse a number of vendors, as well as relax in front of a makeshift stage for country and gospel music.
