Skateboarders “stoked” about skate park

ELIZABETHTOWN — On Thursday, the Skate Barn, a skateboarding facility in Hamstead that holds summer skateboarding camps, brought about 15 campers to the King Street Skate Park in Elizabethtown to practice their skills.

“This is awesome,” said Skate Barn worker Brandon Rogers. “This is my first time here, and I’m really stoked. I’m a transition skater, so I’m usually on bowls, and I’m loving this long ramp — I’m really free to jump, and it’s slick and fast. This place is sick.”

The park was constructed in the fall of last year with a matching grant from the N.C Division of Parks and Recreation Trust Fund.
