ELIZABETHTOWN — During a business session by the Elizabethtown Rotary Club on Wednesday, the new officers for 2016-17 were introduced and bid a farewell to a longtime member.

The new officers for the coming year are: President-Elect Anne Breyer; President Nominee Roy Allen; Secretary Billie Sue Hall; Program Chairman Jay Leatherman; Foundation Chairman William Findt; Membership Chairman Nick West: Fundraising Committee Chairman Shane Freeman: Public Relations Committee Chairman Erin Smith; Service Project Chairman Eddie Madden; Treasurer Phil Byrd; and Sergeant-At-Arms Wayne Schaeffer.

President Charlotte Smith welcomed the members in attendance and set some goals for the club for the upcoming year.

Smith also announced that longtime club member and immediate past Secretary Jose Rodriguez will be leaving the club.

“I wish I was staying,” he said. “It has been a pleasure working with you all. I really enjoy the fellowship and things we do.”

Rodriguez continued: “I stayed (in Bladen County) for 10 years because of the warm welcome I got from everybody.”

Harvey Iwerks was also recognized for his service to the club.

During the meeting, members discussed various service projects they would like to take part in.
