Hog truck flips on Center Road

BLADENBORO — A truck loaded with dead hogs bound for Smithfield Packing in Tar Heel overturned on Center Road between Bladenboro and Dublin early Wednesday, closing the road for several hours.

According to a report filed by N.C. State Highway Patrol Trooper W.C. Townsend, the accident happened at about 2:45 a.m. near Marsh Road.

Townsend reported that the driver, who was not identified, veered off the right side of Center Road, over-corrected and flipped. The vehicle came to rest on its roof.

The driver was transported to Bladen County Hospital with non-serious injuries. He was later cited for a lane violation.

Center Road was closed several hours while the hogs were removed from the roadway.
