Summer Sounds Concert Series isn’t far away

Elizabethtown — With the start of summer looming on June 20, organizers of the second annual Summer Sounds Concert Series have been hard at work to get the four-part series set up.

Dawn Maynard, executive director of the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the lead organizer of the Concert Series, she was looking most forward to hosting such a huge event so that the whole community can be brought together for free.

“People should expect good, fun, family entertainment,” she said. “This event was designed to be enjoyed by the entire family.”

Last summer’s first-ever Concert Series was a tremendous success, with more than 3,000 residents enjoying the four concerts combined.

This year’s Summer Sounds Concert Series lineup is as follows:

— Thursday, July 14 — The Entertiners

— Thursday, July 28 — Spare Change

— Thursday, Aug. 11 — Rivermist Band

— Thursday, Aug. 25 — Blackwater Rythm & Blues

The concerts will all be held at the Cape Fear Farmers Market in downtown Elizabethtown from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Concert Series is presented by Cape Fear Valley/Bladen County Hospital and the Chamber of Commerce, while platinum sponsors include the Bladen Journal and Four County EMC.

“We were incredible happy with the turnouts of all four concerts last summer,” said W. Curt Vincent, general manager/editor of the Bladen Journal. “As a major sponsor, it was a worthwhile set of events to be involved with, and we’re hoping to see as much or more interest this summer.

“Dawn and her Chamber directors have done a tremendous job getting a very talented lineup together once again,” he added.

Gold sponsors include Campbell Oil, Minuteman Foodmart, Arby’s, Bladen Builders Supplies, RA Jefferys, Giorgios Restuarant and Star Telephone.

“We hope to exceed the success that we had last year, which was over our expectations.” said Maynard.
