Rotary welcomes new members

ELIZABETHTOWN — Two new members were welcomed to the Elizabethtown Rotary Club on Wednesday at San Jose Restaurant in Elizabethtown.

Rotarians Jamie Davis and Wayne Edge received their new member packets and were welcomed to the club by President Renee Horton.

Later in the meeting, Wayne Schaeffer, a recent new member, introduced himself to the group and told the group he is a retired U.S. Navy veteran and retired from civil service.

Horton led the group in a business meeting where discussions included plans for the club’s upcoming 8K Trail Run and Walk to benefit the USO of North Carolina, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, at the Brown’s Creek Nature Trail and Bike Park at 8:30 a.m.

Folks can register for the event by going to www.elizabethtownrotary8k.org. The cost to register of the event is $25. Race packets may be picked up at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market on Friday, April 15, or on Saturday, April 16, at 7:30 a.m. at the park.
