— North Carolina Cooperative Extension — which serves Bladen, Cumberland, Hoke, Robeson and Scotland counties — will host the seventh annual Cape Fear Regional Cattle Conference at the Southeastern N.C. Agricultural Events Center, 1027 Hwy. 74 East in Lumberton. This conference is an excellent opportunity to receive updates on the cattle industry, learn new management practices, and visit with other cattle producers in the area. Topics and speakers include North Carolina Cattlemen’s Association Update by Bryan Blinson; Deworming & Animal Health Management by Dr. Harrison Dudley, NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine and a Beef Cattle Marketing Options Producer Panel. The program includes a meal and time to visit with vendors. There will be a $5 charge for the conference to help cover speaker and meal costs — pay at the door. Feb. 6

— Auditions are planned for Saturday, Feb. 6, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 103 E. Broad St. in Elizabethtown for Marjorie Lewis’ first play titled “The Sweet, Sweet Smell of Freedom.” The play is set to be performed on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m. in the Bladen Community College auditorium. — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office “Place of Worship Security and Safety Training Program” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 1800 W. — A Valentine Gala ‘CANCER’ benefit for Relay for Life will be held at Living Springs Church, located at 909 S. Poplar St. in Elizabethtown.
