ELIZABETHTOWN — The Bladen County Board of Commissioners tabled an issue regarding the approval of a Medicaid transportation vendor for non-emergency Medicaid transportation during its meeting Monday.
“We’re going to talk about it on Monday,” said Martin of the item.
He said folks who are eligible for Medicaid can receive transportation to their medical-related appointments. Martin said the transportation is scheduled through the Department of Social Services for folks who are eligible. Martin said the county contracts with a provider to provide that transportation service.
Martin said that some patients will have family members who transport them to appointments and those family members can be reimbursed for transportation-related expenses through Medicaid. He added that BARTS offers some limited Medicaid transportation.
In other business:
— The board approved the declaration of surplus property for the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office and approved a transaction with Lawmen’s Safety Supply, Inc. to trade in surplus firearms. Martin said that this is routine.
— The board apporved meal service agreement with ABL Management and a health service agreement with Southern Health Partners for the Bladen County Jail.
— The board received an update on th inmate labor agreement and voted to submit a letter of support for rock arch weirs at Willaim O. Huske Lock and Dam No. 2 and No. 3.
— The board made a myriad of advisory committee appointments: Dean Hicks was apppointed to replace Gary Padgett on the Ammon Fire District Board; Channing Gooden, Charlotte Smith and Morris White were apppinted to the Animal Control Board; Kathy Coates, Daniel Peterson, Sara Ward and Kenneth Daniels were apppointed to the Bladen County Recreation Committee; Emory White was appointed to the Eastpointe LME Advisory Board; Annette Smith, Ricky Johnson and Willis R. Edge were reappointed to the Hickory Grove Fire Service District Committee; Charles E. Ridenhour and Bobby Lee Russ were reappointed to the Kelly Fire Service District Committee; Charles Ray Peterson, Larry Hayes, Jamie Smith, Bradley Kinlaw, Tiffany Pait and Joel Blake were reapppointed to the Bladen County Local Emergency Planning Committee while Kent Allen, Sandra Cain and Wesley Sasser were added to the same committee; Bladen Community College President William Findt was reappointed to the Lumber River Work Force Development Committee; Terry Herring, Jimmy Allen Jr. and Vernon Richardson were reappointed to the Tar Heel Fire Service District Committee; Franklin Davis was reappointed to the Tobermory Fire Service District Committee; and Cary Hammonds, J.C. Chadwick and Ivy B. Merritt were reappointed to the White Lake Fire Service District Committee.
